    All gas engineers carry the gas safe card with them, without it they cannot work.

    It's just like a driving licence but only for gas.

    Don't be fooled into letting someone work on your gas appliance if they cannot show you the card.

    It's your responsibility as a gas user to ensure that anyone who works on your gas supply or appliances is gas safe registered.

    Failure to do so could lead to your home insurance becoming void, and could lead to a prosecution with heavy penalties.

    The card is there for your protection. 

    Make sure that you check the front and the back of the card.

    Check the front of the card for:

    • The photo
    • The start date and expiry date
    • The licence number
    • The security hologram

    Check the back of the card to make sure:

    Your engineer is qualified to do the gas work you want done e.g. cooker, boiler, gas fire

    Their qualifications are up to date
